Poker Players Voluntarily Submit to Performance Enhancement Drug Testing
As poker continues its drive to become part of the games, poker players from all over world have been volunteering to submit to drug screening. "The last thing poker needs is for a few 'roid cases to ruin it for all of us," said Steve Peckingham, Los Angeles poker player. "Plus, doesn't that stuff make your nads shrink up like raisins?"
The games committee is pleased with poker players being forthcoming but would make no promises as to when poker might become an event in the games.
"I don't think poker players should be treated any differently than any other athletes. That's our whole mission. We just want to be treated the same. "Give me a cup, I'll pee right now. No really...I have to pee," added Josh Fell, Texas poker player.
"Steroids have no place in the games and certainly not in poker. I'd hate to see some guy go into a 'roid rage over having his aces cracked by 7-2 offsuit," said Jefferson Coombs, adding "if poker has any chance, we've got to keep it clean." |
