    Aces and Kings
by Michael Kaplan and Brad Reagan

Poker is a game of subtle deceptions and minute adjustments, and the lessons that can be learned from studying the masters in action are invaluable for readers of all levels--from beginners to grizzled rounders. And that's precisely what Michael Kaplan and Brad Reagan deliver in Aces and Kings:Inside Stories and Million-Dollar Strategies from Poker's Greatest Players. Through fascinating and intimate profiles, Aces and Kings spills all the details of the ground-breaking strategies and outrageous lifestyles of the game's most influential players. In Aces and Kings, you'll follow the evolution of modern poker from shady back rooms to the world of high-tech, mainstream entertainment. You'll read the amazing tales of legends like Puggy Pearson and Amarillo Slim, street-smart hustlers who stormed the poker rooms of Las Vegas in the 1960s. You'll read about Vegas's glam era, in the '70s and '80s, and about today's new generation of champs--guys like Chris Moneymaker and Phil Ivey, computer-savvy card wizards with endorsement deals and celebrity friends. Along the way, you'll see the game itself transform. Today, Internet casinos, and tv networks broadcast poker tournaments day and night.

    Real Poker Night
    by Henry Stephenson

Poker night is a national tradition. But the variations of poker most casual players know--filled with wild cards, penny-ante bets, and rules that change at the whim of the dealer--are a far cry from the games played by professionals. That's unfortunate, because millions of intelligent players are needlessly missing out on the depth and sophistication of this uniquely American pastime. This practical, user-friendly guide makes the case for authentic poker, lays out the formal rules used in card rooms and high-stakes tournaments, and provides a primer on strategy that will equip you to become a winner at the real game. Contrary to popular belief, serious competitive poker isn't any less fun than homespun games; serious poker is more fun, and there's no reason you can't play it on your kitchen table over reasonable stakes.

    7 Card Stud Books

High Low Split Poker, Seven-Card Stud and Omaha Eight-Or-Better for Advanced Players (Advance Player)
    by Ray Zee

High-Low-Split Poker, Seven-Card Stud and Omaha Eight-or-Better For Advanced Players by Ray Zee is the third book in the "For Advanced Players" series. It is really books 3 and 4 for two reasons. First, many of the concepts are similar for both games. Second, players mastering one game can easily make the transition to the other.

Some of the ideas discussed in the seven-card stud eight-or-better section include starting hands, when an ace raises, disguising your hand on third street, play on fourth street, fifth street, sixth street, seventh street, position, bluffing, staying to the end, and scare cards. Some of the ideas discussed in the Omaha eight-or-better section include general concepts, position, low hands, high hands, your starting hand, how to play your hand, play on the flop, multiway versus short handed play, scare cards, getting counterfeited, and your playing style.

Seven-Card Stud for Advanced Players (Advance Player)
    by David Sklansky

Seven-card stud is an extremely complex game. Deciding on exactly the right strategy in any particular situation can be very difficult. Perhaps this is why very few authors have attempted to analyze this game even though it is widely played. In 1989, the first edition of this text appeared. Many ideas, which were only known to a small, select group of players, were now made available to anyone who was striving to become an expert, and a major gap in the poker literature was closed. It is now a new century, and the authors have again moved the state of the art forward by adding over 100 pages of new material, including an extensive section on "loose games." Anyone who studies this text, is well disciplined, and gets the proper experience should become a significant winner. Some of the other ideas discussed in this 21st century edition include the cards that are out, the number of players in the pot, ante stealing, playing big pairs, playing little and medium pairs, playing three-flushes, playing three-straights, randomizing your play, fourth street, pairing your door card on fourth street, proper play on fifth, sixth, and seventh streets, defending against a possible ante steal, playing against a paired door card, scare card strategy, and buying a free card.

7 Card Stud 42 Lessons How to Win at Medium & Lower Limits
    by Roy West

This is the book that's changing the way 7-card stud is being played! Roy West's Complete Course in Winning at Medium and Lower Limits is here at last with the 42 strategic lessons that his private students used to pay $420 to learn. "Think of me as your favorite uncle, who is a pro poker player, sitting across the table from you and teaching you how to win at 7-card stud," says West. A textbook with heart, 7-Card Stud teaches you: How the Rule of Two Can Save You Money When and How to Steal the Antes. How to Figure Out What Your Opponents are Holding. How to Remember Exposed Cards and Read the Board. How to Avoid Costly Mistakes. Includes a special chapter written by Tom McEvoy on how to win 7-stud tournaments. "Your course lessons were truly inspirational. On my next trip to Las Vegas, I knocked 'em dead at $10-$20, where before, I considered the trip a success if I broke even. You made it clear and easy to understand the strategies needed to win daily. Now everyone can get this great information ... darn it!" -- Steve Krex, former student.

Championship Stud: 7-Card Stud, Stud/8, Razz
    by Max Stern

How to play all three types of stud poker. Linda Johnson, World Poker Tour on-floor commentator, wrote the widely acclaimed chapter on razz, and assisted with the strong section on seven-card studn high-low split. Johnson won the razz championship at the 1997 World Series of Poker, the same year that co-author Max Stern won the seven-card stud high-low championship. McEvoy, Stern and Johnson present a round-table approach to tournament play and cash game strategy for seven-card stud.
